There are nearly as many variations of washers boards as there are variations of the rules of play. Washers can be broken down into 1 Hole and 3 Hole boards, with a backboard on a 1 Hole board often referred to as Hawaiian washers. The boards may or may not be carpeted, and the holes may be boxed in with a PVC or other tube as the target, or the hole itself the target with the board raised above the ground usually on some form of wooden support, generally 2x4, 2x3, or 1x3 wood edging. On 3 Hole Washers boards, the spacing between holes also will vary from region to region, the standards being 8" between holes to 12" between holes. Grunt is a game variation that utilizes solid aluminum 3" diameter coits rather than washers, with 8" between the 3 holes. Below is a set of
3 Hole washers boards available from

1 Hole washers are most commonly found as a box with a PVC type tube inside glued to the bottom of the box. Points are scored by getting the washers in the box, more for in the tube, and rules vary from region to region, ad even house to house. See our 1 Hole Washers rules and variations for more information. Below is a typical

The Hawaiian version of 1 hole washers adds a backboard to the game. We will add more information and pictures of Hawaiian Washers soon.
